I was raised overseas in Venezuela, where I attended a bilingual American high school and became fluent in English and Spanish. I completed pre-medical coursework and a Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Texas at Arlington in 1994. I obtained my medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1998. Thereafter, I specialized in Internal Medicine at this center and became board certified in 2001. That year, I served as Chief Resident of the Internal Medicine training program and then joined the medical faculty in 2002. During the subsequent years, I provided a mixture of teaching and patient care among the Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital, the University Hospital, and the University of Texas Health Science Center. I continue to participate in some patient care and medical education efforts. In September of 2007, I left my salaried faculty position to pursue this faith-inspired medical practice and worked solely on contributions from patients. I sold my home to fund my start-up and began making housecalls from my apartment. In July of 2009, I moved into a home where I established my current medical office. I continued receiving many opportunities to serve and local media attention for the work I was doing on a contribution basis. Click here for WOAI news story about the practice that aired March of 2010. After 3 years of service on contributions without coverage of the practice's expenses or any salary, I surveyed my patients in October of 2010 regarding the direction I should go with this practice. I received nearly unanimous support to transition to a financially sustainable practice on January 3, 2011, by establishing fees for my service and processing insurance benefits. I continue grateful for all the personal and financial support I received from all my patients during the early phases of Good Faith Medical, PA and in the years to come. My service and your support continue to be testimonies to "good faith." I am blessed with my beautiful and beloved wife, Loree, and with two wonderful children, Ian and Jordan. I attend Bandera Road Community Church where I strengthen my faith.
